What this job involves:
As Senior Data Centre Operations Engineer at JLL, you will be a key contributor in ensuring the reliability, scalability, and innovation of JLL’s global on‑premises infrastructure. Reporting directly to the Director, Data Centre Operations - AMER, you will oversee and optimize the daily operations of server, storage, and virtualization environments—safeguarding performance and continuity across mission‑critical systems worldwide. Beyond operational excellence, you will drive strategic initiatives such as technology refresh planning and implementation to align infrastructure capabilities with JLL’s evolving business objectives. This role requires a blend of engineering depth, strategic thinking, and a creative, problem‑solving mindset. You will contribute directly to JLL’s commitment to world‑class technology delivery—enabling data‑driven insights and operational resilience that power business success across our global platform.
What your day-to-day will look like:
Be involved in and/or lead operational escalations related to Data Centre technologies with particular focus on Wintel, storage, Citrix & virtualization stacks
Required to attend all operational meetings and provide guidance and approvals where necessary for Data Centre related tasks or changes
Provide operational oversight of Managed Services Providers to ensure contracted tasks are being performed to standard
Work directly with vendors, service integrators, and VARs to assess datacenter products and technologies
Assist with global Data Centre project work, applying solution-oriented thinking to complex challenges
Engage with stakeholders to ensure end user experience is delivered at the highest standard
Lead team discussions and actively contribute to building a collaborative, growth-oriented team environment
Triage complex technical issues and act as escalation engineer for critical incidents requiring advanced troubleshooting
Develop and refine operational processes while identifying gaps in existing procedures to improve efficiency and reliability

Required Skills and Experience:
Core Technical Requirements:
Virtualization Stack: Deep expertise in VMware ESXi and Nutanix AHV virtualization stacks, including migrations between hypervisors and cloud platforms
Operating Systems: Full understanding of Wintel operations - Microsoft Windows Server OS (2012-2025) and Linux OS (RedHat)
Storage Technologies: Knowledge of various storage platforms - Nasuni, Nutanix NUS, Windows & Azure Files
Citrix: understanding of Citrix infrastructure and management
Backup & Disaster Recovery: Experience with various Backup & DR tools
Datacenter Operations: Rack elevations, racking, cabling, and physical infrastructure management
Identity Management: Solid understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPO), and Microsoft Entra
Cloud Technologies: Azure IAAS management, AWS EC2 & GCP experience
Networking: Understanding of TCP/IP, L2/L3 switches, DNS, DHCP, Load Balancers, Firewall rules & cloud networking
Desirable Skills
Must have administered or at least have exposure to the following:
Storage: Isilon, NetApp, Nasuni & NUS
Backup/DR tools: Rubrik & Zerto
Virtualization: Nutanix AHV
Implemented refreshes to agreed designs & ability to support the environment at 3rd line level.
Engineering mindset, dealing with escalations and strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
Knowledge of security best practices and protocols to ensure the secure operation of the environment.
Able to produce solutions that comply with operational and governance standards.
Be able to scrutinise changes on Change Advisory Board (CAB) and have strong interpersonal/communication skills
Broad understanding of databases – ability to fine tune Microsoft SQL Server workloads and well versed in DB backup/recovery operations
Good understanding of enterprise networking and exposure to:
Micro segmentation
DNS/DHCP/Print solutions & management of branch/Edge deployments
Scripting with PowerShell & exposure to various infrastructure tools such as:
SCCM
Datadog
Automation tools such as Ansible & Terraform
Capacity planning & forecasting tools (Aria, Prism, VRNI, Komprise)
Asset Management & Inventory tracking
Experience with annual budget planning/reporting
SLA management, change management, incident response & RCA
